Here's my old brown dog on her 5th birthday, just after enjoying a piece of birthday cake. (Don't worryit came from a dog bakery.) Lucy is a 5 year old Plott Hound who lives in Huntington Woods, MI, a northern suburb of Detroit. We found your OBD beer in Ohio, and had to pick up a six pack due to Lucy's resemblance to your model, Olive.

Unfortunately, I can't purchase your beer in my area, but hope to be able to soon!

Love the Old Brown Dog Ale!

Hi Peter
Here is Ozzy, our young red dog. Ozzy is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel born on 11/12/02. He has local ties to your area, his mother was born there and his grandmother lives in Hampton, N.H. He hasn't yet tried the OBD, he'll have to wait until he's of legal age. What is that in dog years,
anyway????
Thanks for a great family of beers, I enjoy them all. Let's get those Big Beers into PA!

Peter...
Cassidy was born to an Amish family in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We adopted her at 8 weeks old. She is a typical "people dog" and will fetch a Kong or ball until your arm is ready to fall off. In the house, she acts as a pillow for my girls, or anyone else who want a bit of down time.
Note: She is NOT named for Kathy Lee's kid - she is named for a Grateful Dead song that was playing in our car when we adopted her.

Hi,

Rosa has quite an odd pedigree. She was rescued as a five week old puppy from the beaches of Venezuela. Starving, weak and flea ridden she was probably only a few days from death but luckily for her she was cute and lovable and needed to be saved. Now she lives a regal life here in Canada and is the downright spoiled princess of the house (that's her chair afterall). She'd happily pose for whatever Brown Dog calendar you might decide to produce in the future, all she asks is that she be Miss April...that's when she was born.

Well, Smilin Jack is not an old brown dog....he is a young black pup! One of his favorite activities is to leap in the air, all four paws aloft, and bark for attention or ale!

Hello,

Klondike is a 3 year old English Foxhound who's hobbies include chasing deer, fox, rabbit, squirrels, cats and crashing through the bush. She lives in the city and enjoys warm wort more than cold beer. In this photo she is seen on her favorite chair, posing like Olive, and watching the world go by through the front window. I am a home brewer and plan to put Klondike's picture (with Santa) on my "Holiday Hound IPA".

Love your beers, keep up the good work, I hope to visit Portsmouth some day for a tour.

Our dog Libby... Imagine our surprise to see our, not so old, (1-1/2 years) dog, Libby on your beer bottle. An English Springer Spaniel-Beagle mix, she's a great dog and we love her- your beer's not so bad either...

This is our Chocolate Lab puppy, Kaley who loves Old Brown Dog Ale. We tried to replace her daily ration of Old Brown Dog with common tap water, and she angrily swatted it away. For her, it is Old Brown Dog or nothing!

Peter, Olive and SmuttyNose Crew,

Here's a quality pin-up of BD (short for Brown Dog, could you ask for a better pin-up name) our German Wirehaired Pointer. He's not really that old, but kind of looks it from his white ticking and beard. He's a great dog, loves to run in the woods (especially when we Mountain Bike and can keep up with him) and sniff out Grouse and other woodland fauna. BD loves your Old Brown Dog Ale, but mostly for the picture of Olive on the label. In fact, he thinks she's a hotty and wants to know if she's spoken for?

Great website and even better Beer!

Shawn, Trisha and Brown Dog from Vermont.

I really enjoy your pinup page! I've attached a picture of my old brown dog Bosco with my son. This picture was taken shortly before he passed away. He was a great dog, and your beer is a pleasant reminder of him.

Thanks,

Name:  Boston Spanky
Breed:    Boston Terrier
Brief Bio:  My first public appearance was not on a milk carton, it was on a 1 lb. coffee can cover asking for donations ~ an attempt to spark interest and support for local animal shelters. Now I'm an honorary spokesman for shelters from New Hampshire to Texas. It may be optimistic of me, but I really believe we can all be better than we are; care a little more for our family, friends and neighbors, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land we live on...   I work hard - I play hard - and when I wanna relax, you can bet there's a cold on in the frig with my name on it!  Boston Spanky is not just another pretty face!  (Do you see what happens when people work straight through the night????)

Thank you,
Naomi

Hi. I was on temporary assignment in Hanover, NH last week, walking through the Coop, looking for a local beer to sample, and minding my own business. All of a sudden I encounter your Old Brown Dog Ale, and my first thought is how did they get my dog's picture on their beer???? Because staring down from the carton is the spitting image of my pup! Choc is an 8-month old German Shorthair Pointer, solid liver except for a blaze of white on his chest; he is also hell on wheels. This was one of the few times he stopped long enough for me to snap his picture. Your Old Brown Dog Ale is great, by the way. Hopefully I will be going back up to NH in the near future, because we can't get your beers down here in Mississippi.

Peter,
This is Suzie. She is a duck dog extrordinaire. There is nothing she likes better than standing belly
deep in icy water all morning just for the chance to fetch a duck. She's 7 years old now, 6 when this was
taken. She doesn't act a day over 2. Cute in her camo vest eh? Keep up the good work (making tasty beer).

This is Cody he is 2 years old and loves to play in the snow. He cant get enough of being outdoors no matter how hot or cold it is. But once he comes inside he is out like a light sleeping at his favorite spot in the house. OH yeah and he cant get enough of that SmuttyNose bottle everytime I pull one out of the fridge.

Nate is a three year old lab mix who lives in Little Rock, Arkansas. His favorite activities are swimming, romping through the woods & running amok at his favorite park where he sniffs out armadillos whenever possible. Nate has not had the pleasure of visiting NH but hopes to have an opportunity soon.
Nate's Mom, Debbie

9/7/01 - Attached is a photo of my boy "Julius Erving," though I usually just introduce him as "Doc." He's six now (and this is a recent photo), so he's a bit more thick and lab-like these days, but as a kid, he was the spittin' image of Olive the Old Brown Dog. And yes, he's a phenomenal dog and lives in the most loving of homes.
Best of Luck,
Mason Levinson

Annique will be one year old this November. When she was ten weeks old, she was abandoned on the side of a highway with two of her sisters. The other two pups were given to good homes, & Annique stayed with us to become a very spoiled girl. Annique lives in Little Rock, Arkansas & her favorite activity is swimming.

Hi Peter, I have the twin sister to your dog on the label of Old Brown Dog Ale . The names are Tucker and Alley I have tired to get Alley in the right pose but she is two years old and will not sit still. Some day we will have to bring Alley and Tucker to visit your brewery.
Thank you Kevin, Pat, Tucker and Alley

This is Brierly! And if any dog deserves 15 minutes of fame on a beer site, believe me, it's HER! Brierly (Short for Brierly Brook, my home town in Antigonish, Nova Scotia) loves beer! At a family BBQ one time, someone thought it would be funny to give her a little sip. Now she goes crazy whenever she sees anyone with a beer in hand. She'll jump up and over you to get a swig. And, her tongue ALWAYS sticks out like that. It wasn't a chance shot. Isn't she silly looking? She's my baby.

I just ran across your beer for the first time and was surprised to see "my dog" on the label. Attached is a picture of our dog Mervy after a cooling swim in our pond. He is a 12 year old German Shorthair Pointer who is all liver with an uneven white patch (unseen in this photo) on his chest. Great beer and great label.

Hi
This is our chocolate lab Candy. We think she is a very pretty girl. She loves playing outdoors, swimming and playing with the grand kids. Sincerely, Don and Marla, Fort Collins, Co.

This is Eddie - he qualifies as an old brown dog because he's got some brown spots on his legs and head - and he's very old, like, oohhhh, a year and 4 months. Oh, and he likes Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale. He lives in Alabama, so he was only lucky enough to sample the tasty goodness of your beer when I brought some back from a business trip to New Hampshire. He highly recommends that you start shipping to our beautiful (if culturally backwards) state as soon as possible or he will be very sad. And no one likes to see a sad puppy dog. A. O'Reilly

Here is a picture of my brown dog, Miles, who resembles your brown dog so much that my friend brought a bottle from New Hampshire to Indiana. Unfortunately, it was empty, but some day I'll forgive him. lots of love, Emily

Cramer is an 8 year old yellow lab mix. He lives in Kent, Ohio. He loves to go on walks, chase skunks (and got sprayed!), and would love to get his big old tongue on some of your beer, but his mother does not let him imbibe.

12/18/99 Dotti

Although she's far from an OBD, Dotti is a spottly little lass who has two loves in life, the water, and its most useful purpose: beer. She used to live in Boston where there was plenty of beer, but clear water and kind beaches were nowhere to be found. Here on the Seacoast, she's found Nirvana. We as the owners have to be careful, if we set our beer down and leave the room, it mysteriously disappears - nothing but an empty glass and a guilty face. Dotti hopes someday people will smarten up and allow puppies into fabulous smelling establishments like the Portsmouth Brewery!

She also has her very own web site (no this dog isn't spoiled).

Thinks he's the fastest dog on the planet, and likes to run ahead of other dogs, then cut sharply in front of them. Problem is- he also likes to pick fights, and hope that his wolf/shepherd pack-mate will bail him out it the going gets too tuff!
