Hello, Klondike is a 3 year old English Foxhound who's hobbies include chasing deer, fox, rabbit, squirrels, cats and crashing through the bush. She lives in the city and enjoys warm wort more than cold beer. In this photo she is seen on her favorite chair, posing like Olive, and watching the world go by through the front window. I am a home brewer and plan to put Klondike's picture (with Santa) on my "Holiday Hound IPA". Love your beers, keep up the good work, I hope to visit Portsmouth some day for a tour. Michael

10/24/02 This is our Chocolate Lab puppy, Kaley who loves Old Brown Dog Ale. We tried to replace her daily ration of Old Brown Dog with common tap water, and she angrily swatted it away. For her, it is Old Brown Dog or nothing! Gregg & Cathy LeBlanc
10/23 Here's a quality pin-up of BD (short for Brown Dog, could you ask for a better pin-up name) our German Wirehaired Pointer. He's not really that old, but kind of looks it from his white ticking and beard. He's a great dog, loves to run in the woods (especially when we Mountain Bike and can keep up with him) and sniff out Grouse and other woodland fauna. BD loves your Old Brown Dog Ale, but mostly for the picture of Olive on the label. In fact, he thinks she's a hotty and wants to know if she's spoken for? Great website and even better Beer! Shawn, Trisha and Brown Dog from Vermont.

2/24/02 Hi. I was on
temporary assignment in Hanover, NH last week, walking through
the Coop, looking for a local beer to sample, and minding my
own business. All of a sudden I encounter your Old Brown Dog
Ale, and my first thought is how did they get my dog's picture
on their beer???? Because staring down from the carton is the
spitting image of my pup! Choc is an 8-month old German Shorthair
Pointer, solid liver except for a blaze of white on his chest;
he is also hell on wheels. This was one of the few times he stopped
long enough for me to snap his picture. Your Old Brown Dog Ale
is great, by the way. Hopefully I will be going back up to NH
in the near future, because we can't get your beers down here
in Mississippi. 1/20/02 Here's Rachel and her peripatetic pooch, Ginger, from Mariposa, California. (Hi, Mom.)
December 21, 2001 This Bailey, my 4 year old Yorky. If you ever cruise ebay you might find me bidding as "baileysbudd" . Bailey has a true sister who is 9 months old. Her name is Kailua.
12/17/01 Bobby Kubara 12/10/01 Here's
Lucy, the Old Brown Dog (in black & white...) 10/15/01 This
is Cody he is 2 years old and loves to play in the snow. He cant
get enough of being outdoors no matter how hot or cold it is.
But once he comes inside he is out like a light sleeping at his
favorite spot in the house. OH yeah and he cant get enough of
that SmuttyNose bottle everytime I pull one out of the fridge. 9/12/01

is a photo of my boy "Julius Erving," though I usually
just introduce him as "Doc." He's six now (and this
is a recent photo), so he's a bit more thick and lab-like these
days, but as a kid, he was the spittin' image of Olive the Old
Brown Dog. And yes, he's a phenomenal dog and lives in the most
loving of homes.

July 12, 2001 Peter, I was in your
web site and saw the OBD picture archives and had to send you
this photo of Grady just because he really is the cutest and
best dog ever, of course with the exception of yours.
June 12, 2001 This is Daisy Mae. This is what happens when you have a bit too much Smuttynose at the Christmas office party. Daisy lives with her people, Jim, Terrye and Greg, in Dracut, Massachusetts.June 10, 2001
Hi
Peter, I have the twin sister to your dog on the label of Old
Brown Dog Ale . The names are Tucker and Alley I have tired to
get Alley in the right pose but she is two years old and will
not sit still. Some day we will have to bring Alley and Tucker
to visit your brewery.
June 4, 2001 This is Brierly! And if any dog deserves 15 minutes of fame on a beer site, believe me, it's HER! Brierly (Short for Brierly Brook, my home town in Antigonish, Nova Scotia) loves beer! At a family BBQ one time, someone thought it would be funny to give her a little sip. Now she goes crazy whenever she sees anyone with a beer in hand. She'll jump up and over you to get a swig. And, her tongue ALWAYS sticks out like that. It wasn't a chance shot. Isn't she silly looking? She's my baby. Cindy from Tewksbury, MA
May 29, 2001 This is a picture of our Young Brown Dog, her name is Little Monster Guy, but it's Monster for short. We got her from a shelter and were very surprised to see another dog that looked exactly like her! Monster is 4 months old and a lot of fun! Sarah, Cincinnati Ohio
May 2001 Lilly lives on the New Hampshire seacoast with her people, Tim, Dale & Chloe Nelson. Although she's too young to drink Old Brown Dog, she'd love to have her picture on the Smuttynose website! Tim Nelson

February 12, 2001 Hi
January 30, 2001 This is Eddie - he qualifies as an old brown dog because he's got some brown spots on his legs and head - and he's very old, like, oohhhh, a year and 4 months. Oh, and he likes Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale. He lives in Alabama, so he was only lucky enough to sample the tasty goodness of your beer when I brought some back from a business trip to New Hampshire. He highly recommends that you start shipping to our beautiful (if culturally backwards) state as soon as possible or he will be very sad. And no one likes to see a sad puppy dog. A. O'Reilly December 30, 2000 Here is a picture of my brown dog, Miles, who resembles your brown dog so much that my friend brought a bottle from New Hampshire to Indiana. Unfortunately, it was empty, but some day I'll forgive him. lots of love, Emily November 24, 2000 Cramer
is an 8 year old yellow lab mix. He lives in Kent, Ohio. He loves
to go on walks, chase skunks (and got sprayed!), and would love
to get his big old tongue on some of your beer, but his mother
does not let him imbibe.

6/26/00 This is "Cream Ale," a Chinese Shar Pei show dog who loves to smell the flowers. He is seven months old now and lives in Front Royal, Virginia, with his mom and dad and family. Submitted by Cream Ale's friend, Garry Ostermeier
June 1, 2000 Meet Tira, a Brittany Spaniel who belongs to Jo Ann Actis-Grande, Marketing Director of the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company.
May 1, 2000 Here is Lady a 22 month old German Shepard. She LOVES people and can never get enough play time with other dogs. She HATES to be left alone. Here she is taking a break from running around with her buddy Hobbes (far left). Becky M. Carmel
April 29, 2000 Here is my brown dog. Her name is Murphy, she is a chocolate lab who just turned five months. She loves to go for walks and chew things. Daniel G. McKew
March 18, 2000 Haley (the very dark brown one.. well maybe black) and Hanna (with the white paws) live in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They love to swim and hike. They also love people and other dogs. Their unending enthusiasm for simply just living is an inspiration for their humble human companion... William Strauss
3/13/00 Speaking of "min-pins" (see below), G. Curran sends us this photo of Dolly, an 11 year-old "biker bitch" who has covered over 60,000 miles on a bike, through 17 states and 3 Canadian provinces.
3/12/00 Here's Benny, the 14.2 pound tornado, a "min pin" who belongs to our very own Kevin Love. Benny may be small, but he's as tough as he looks.
3/8/00 Meet Badger, resident dog of the Jolly Farmer Inn which is located in Bramley, Surrey England. Badger's photo was submitted by his master Steve Hardstone, landlord of the inn. While you are here, why not visit the Jolly Farmer's website?
This is Shelby Pepoon, she is a purebred Akita. She is the ruler of the castle (and all of the land surrounding it). As you can see here, she just finished a delicious, frosty Old Shoals Pale Ale from Smuttynose Brewery. She tells me it is lip-smacking good, and I would like to have some (if she would ever share them with me)!! James and Kimberly Pepoon. Springfield, Massachusetts
December 27, 1999 Here, is Belle, a young brown dog who sits the Victory Antiques of Portsmouth and sometimes gets her taste of the merchandise. Barbara E Metzler
December 28 , 1999 A new photo for you. A variation on the theme: the Old Black Dog; the Old Blond Dog; the Young Blond Cat Peter McBean
12/18/99 Dotti Although she's far from an OBD, Dotti is a spottly little lass who has two loves in life, the water, and its most useful purpose: beer. She used to live in Boston where there was plenty of beer, but clear water and kind beaches were nowhere to be found. Here on the Seacoast, she's found Nirvana. We as the owners have to be careful, if we set our beer down and leave the room, it mysteriously disappears - nothing but an empty glass and a guilty face. Dotti hopes someday people will smarten up and allow puppies into fabulous smelling establishments like the Portsmouth Brewery! She also has her very own web site (no this dog isn't spoiled). Rich Collins, Portsmouth
12/17/99 This is Elmer... the only other competition to Smutty Imperial Stout for keeping warm! Dave and Michelle, Santa Fe, NM
11/23/99 This picture is of Kira, a purebred Doberman. She is the central focus of the Paul & Heather Cooper household in Longmont, Colorado.
Meet Bonzai - rescued out of a barrel of puppies at a local 'salvation army'. He likes to chase birds- as they fly overhead... go figure! He's part lab, part border collie, and who knows what else. Thinks he's the fastest dog on the planet, and likes to run ahead of other dogs, then cut sharply in front of them. Problem is- he also likes to pick fights, and hope that his wolf/shepherd pack-mate will bail him out it the going gets too tuff!
