April 4, 2006 Thought i'd show some smutty pride up skiing at Steamboat, Colorado. Keep up the good work
"I hatched this idea while swimming off Wallace Sands on a clear, perfectly calm day in early August - " I could swim there..." Recruiting my chum Bruce Lander was the easy part. Delayed on the prior weekend by Ophelia aftermath, we enjoyed a great day on the 24th. 3 hours of swimming followed by some Shoals Pale Ale. Perhaps this will become
a real race in future! We have given some thought to putting
this together as a real event at some future date."

10/27/03 Dear Smuttynose,
11/4/03Smuttynose is a 1964 Pearson Triton which I have owned since 1976 or 1977. I am the third owner and the name came with the boat and I suspect it has been on the boat for at least 5 years prior to my acquisition. The color is a dark green hull, white waterline and black bottom. The wood trim is mahogany, but the boat is fiberglass. Most people consider the Triton to have been the first production fiberglass boat. Pearson produced, I believe a little over 1000 hulls and the run ended in late 1964 or 1965. This is hull number 509 and was built in early 1964. Perhaps one of these days I will sail it into Portsmouth. I keep it in Essex, CT and have sailed to the Vineyard, but not any further. I think the prior owners actually did sail the boat to the Isle of Shoals and Smuttynose Island. David

Since Shoals pale is my favorite beer, I thought it should take it's place in the worlds largest( and loudest) billboard, the Nascar scene! Besides, it's soooo much better than Bud or Coors, so it too deserves a car! Now if you guys can only come up with a couple of million dollars to sponsor one.....Heheh! This is just a little something I painted up for Nascar 4 on the PC. Play with some buddies of mine so I had to have something different! Hope you like it! Kelly Rhyne, Brentwood, NH
